The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their team in Libertyville, IL. This is a hands-on, strategic role focused on risk mitigation, contract negotiation, and legal oversight across energy and transportation infrastructure projects. The position is on-site, with the option for two remote days per week after three months.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and mitigate contract risks during negotiations.
• Draft and advise on claims strategy and contract execution.
• Support compliance and risk mitigation initiatives.
• Advise operational teams on legal issues during project execution.
• Contribute to pre-bid planning and risk strategy.
• Manage litigation and outside counsel as needed.
• Provide training and guidance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) required
• Licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing.
• 2-4 years of legal experience in a firm or corporate setting.
• Strong background in contract negotiation, claims strategy, and risk mitigation.
• Construction industry experience required
• Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills.
